Foundations

Readiness: Simply Classical Levels A-C

Primary – Level A (Readiness: Simply Classical Level A)

A gentle, structured beginning for young learners ages 3–4.

The Foundations Level A program at TPS is designed for children ages 3–4 who are beginning their first structured classroom experience and are developmentally ready for early learning with pre-potty training in place. Using the Simply Classical Curriculum (Level A), TPS offers a nurturing and orderly environment that introduces young scholars to early academic readiness while supporting the whole child.

We cultivate early growth across five core domains:

Language:

  • Phonemic awareness
  • Early vocabulary expansion
  • Simple oral narration
  • Listening to short read-alouds

Cognition:

  • Early categorization
  • Simple sequencing
  • Beginning problem-solving
  • Introduction to early math concepts (counting, shapes, patterns)

Grace and Courtesy:

  • Practicing manners and courtesy
  • Learning daily routines
  • Developing independence
  • Gentle group participation and turn-taking

Fine-Motor Skills:

  • Strengthening hand muscles
  • Crayon and marker grip
  • Early scissor exploration
  • Beginning pre-writing strokes

Gross-Motor Skills:

  • Hopping, marching, climbing
  • Balance and coordination activities
  • Purposeful movement through guided play

Who Benefits:

  • Young children ages 3–4 beginning their first structured classroom environment
  • Students who need intentional school-readiness instruction before Primary School
  • Neurodiverse preschoolers who thrive with gentle routines, multisensory learning, and a warm, predictable setting

Program Goal:

Foundations Level A builds school readiness by nurturing early habits of attention, courtesy, wonder, and joyful discovery. This level lays the groundwork for success as students move into Primary (Junior K3/K4) and beyond.

Foundations – (Readiness: Simply Classical Levels B-C)

A gentle, structured start for young learners and neurodiverse students ready for an academic focus.

The Foundations program at TPS is designed for children starting around age 5, as well as for older neurodiverse students who are transitioning from therapeutic programs such as ABA and are now ready to emphasize academics. Since Junior K3 and Junior K4 are our primary early-childhood levels, Foundations serves as the bridge for students who need structured academic readiness beyond those early grades. Using the Simply Classical Curriculum, TPS supports growth in language, cognition, social-emotional development, and fine- and gross-motor skills in a nurturing, structured environment.

Language:

Phonemic awareness, early vocabulary expansion, oral narration, pre-reading skills.

  • Cognition: categorization, sequencing, problem-solving, and early math concepts.
  • Social-Emotional: developing independence, practicing manners, learning classroom routines.
  • Fine-Motor: strengthening pencil grip, scissor use, and early handwriting.
  • Gross-Motor: climbing, balancing, hopping, and coordinated play.

Who Benefits:

  • Students beginning their first structured classroom experience.
  • Children around age 4-5 who need more readiness before kindergarten.
  • Neurodiverse students, especially those shifting from behavior-focused therapy to **academically rich learning in a nurturing environment.

Goal:

Foundations builds kindergarten readiness while cultivating habits of attention, prayer, courtesy, and joyful discovery—laying a solid base for success in Grammar School.

Litchfield Christian School has been such a beautiful blessing to our family. LCS is a Christ-centered school that challenges students academically, nurtures their creativity, promotes a positive learning environment, and contributes to their spiritual growth. LCS is very supportive, and they encourage their students and their families. Our daughter came into LCS completely broken and empty. Public school had taken a drastic toll on her mental health. She had pleaded with us for over a year to homeschool her. We were at a loss. Our daughter is a very social person, and we knew she needed more. We decided to check out LCS as an alternative. From the very moment we stepped inside LCS, we could see and feel the genuine love. EVERYONE felt as if they belonged. Before our day of observing was over, she had asked if she could please come to LCS. She was smiling and said this place is my kind of place. It's definitely been just that!

Today she is thriving, and she is truly enjoying herself. She loves to go to school, and she loves all of the teachers. She has made good friends and is blossoming in all areas of life. She's even started singing on stage during chapel. This has been the best decision we could have ever made as parents for our daughter. We are incredibly thankful for this opportunity in our hometown, and we truly appreciate that LCS offers grades K-12. How blessed we are to be a part of Litchfield Christian School. We look forward to many more amazing years here.
