Simply Classical at The Paracletus School

Where classical learning meets the art of access.

every child deserves the riches of a classical Christian education

At The Paracletus School, we believe that every child—no matter their learning profile—deserves the riches of a classical Christian education. Yet for many students with dyslexia, speech and language differences, ADHD, autism, or other neurodiverse profiles, traditional classrooms often put behavior or deficits at the forefront rather than academic potential.

This is where Simply Classical, a research-informed curriculum by Memoria Press, transforms the experience. TPS integrates Simply Classical at every stage—Foundations through Upper School—ensuring that students with learning differences and neurodiverse needs not only access but thrive within a classical model.

What Makes Simply Classical Different?

Simply Classical is not a watered-down version of classical education. Instead, it is a thoughtfully adapted pathway that:

  • Slows the pace with shorter lessons and built-in review.
  • Integrates multi-sensory instruction (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, tactile) to strengthen comprehension.
  • Provides oral language components before written demands, supporting speech, language, and literacy growth.
  • Allows flexibility across subjects, so a child may work at different levels in reading, math, or handwriting without losing cohesion.
  • Uses rich, beautiful books and classical content, cultivating taste, imagination, and virtue in every learner.
  • Scaffolds spelling and writing step-by-step, preventing frustration and ensuring mastery.
  • Draws from current research in special education, including dyslexia, learning disabilities, and behavior disorders.

How TPS Uses Simply Classical

At TPS, Simply Classical is not an “add-on.” It is woven into the very fabric of our academic divisions:

Students transitioning from therapy (ABA, speech, OT) receive a gentle, structured entry into academics with readiness skills in language, social-emotional growth, and early literacy.

Simply Classical ensures phonics, reading, and arithmetic are taught systematically, with adaptations for pacing, practice, and handwriting.

Students benefit from structured memory work, cumulative review, and teacher-directed lessons with adaptations for attention and processing.

The logic stage is made accessible through scaffolded writing (progymnasmata), structured Latin translation, and multi-modal logic instruction.

Even in the rhetoric stage, Simply Classical strategies remain: oral rehearsal before writing, Socratic dialogue with guided notes, and scaffolded senior thesis preparation.

Why It Matters

Without Simply Classical, many students with differences would be excluded from the very content that forms wisdom and virtue. With Simply Classical at TPS:

  • Dyslexic students learn Latin and phonics systematically.
  • Students with ADHD succeed through structure, repetition, and engaging lessons.
  • Neurodiverse learners find their seat at the table in literature, history, and Great Books seminars.
  • Families see growth not only in academics, but in confidence, joy, and faith.

At TPS, Simply Classical ensures that classical education is not just for the few, but for all.

We cultivate advocates, leaders, and faithful learners by combining timeless classical content with the art of access, so every child can rise, speak, and lead with wisdom.

A therapeutic Christian school dedicated to children with language-based learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, and related challenges.
Litchfield Christian School has been such a beautiful blessing to our family. LCS is a Christ-centered school that challenges students academically, nurtures their creativity, promotes a positive learning environment, and contributes to their spiritual growth. LCS is very supportive, and they encourage their students and their families. Our daughter came into LCS completely broken and empty. Public school had taken a drastic toll on her mental health. She had pleaded with us for over a year to homeschool her. We were at a loss. Our daughter is a very social person, and we knew she needed more. We decided to check out LCS as an alternative. From the very moment we stepped inside LCS, we could see and feel the genuine love. EVERYONE felt as if they belonged. Before our day of observing was over, she had asked if she could please come to LCS. She was smiling and said this place is my kind of place. It's definitely been just that!

Today she is thriving, and she is truly enjoying herself. She loves to go to school, and she loves all of the teachers. She has made good friends and is blossoming in all areas of life. She's even started singing on stage during chapel. This has been the best decision we could have ever made as parents for our daughter. We are incredibly thankful for this opportunity in our hometown, and we truly appreciate that LCS offers grades K-12. How blessed we are to be a part of Litchfield Christian School. We look forward to many more amazing years here.
